So folks. I celebrated a Birthday yesterday. Not a particularly special one, least of all a major milestone. Simply the anniversary of which I was born.
Generally I try to stay away from blogging when feeling sorry for myself. Finding a reader who would willingly read a blog entry full of self pity is unlikely. But it's hard to feel like putting on a party hat to celebrate getting another year older without your loved ones. I loved the phone calls and the special deliveries. But I really just wanted to sit down and have cake with my parents and boyfriend, and it feels pretty miserable that I couldn't.
At first I thought "Another year gone, what did I do as a 22 year old?"
I don't want to bore you with a long poetic entry about personal growth. (Ick.)
BUT I did do a couple pretty cool things I'd like to call your attention too.
1. I graduated college. Simple, but yet so many people don't. I also graduated with semi decent grades, two majors, zero failed classes, and did not get arrested or pregnant. Go me.
2. I got a job. And we all know how that turned out don't we? (whomp whomp.) But still the point is that I-was-EMPLOY-ed-people! At a big kid job. Where you go and sit at a desk from 9-5 (ish) and you wear uncomfortable shoes and you have fancy luxuries like an extension. Although that job didn't work out for me, it lead to something more important; my next job. And so on and so forth, until hopefully someday I have a job I enjoy.
3. I moved to DC. A big city, far away from the comforts of codling parents and high school buddies. I paid bills. Took public transportation. Got robbed. I survived.
4. I got a dog. Well I didn't. My parents did. But she's the BEST. That's all.
So this year wasn't a total bust. I think I did ok.
Thoughts?
