In a Snap...Kinda

Well it took me 3 weeks and 1 day but I finished my Sahara sweater. I really wanted a quick knit after finishing my Central Park Hoodie. I guess I kind of jinxed myself with that. Even though Sahara was a top down, and knit in one piece it was a COTTON BEAST.

I wanted to knit something light and cool that I could wear this summer. The woman in the yarn shop directed me to this yarn. I loved it. Shiny, pretty colors, soft and reasonably priced. Covington by Plymouth Yarns. 100% cotton. I don't blame her-but I wish she had warned me; if I never see another skein of cotton it will be too soon. Cotton is hard to work with. No stretch and no memory. After the first few days of working with this yarn I had to wear a wrist brace at night.

I hated this yarn. HATED it. It was stiff, splitty, and showed every mistake or change in tension. It kind of feels like wearing chain mail. Chain mail that shows every imperfection of my body.

I liked the pattern though. Cute, flattering...But that's all the positive comments I have to say about this project.

xoxo,
Lo

It looks great but I know what you mean about the stiffness of cotton. I knit up a few baby bibs for a friend a while ago and it was all I could do to finish them. My hands were aching so badly after working on them!

I heart your sweater. Can you share the pattern so I can give it a shot? I might sub in a different kind of yarn and see what I end up with...

Thanks!

I am so amazed and bewildered by anyone who can knit like that. Or knit at all! It's beautiful.
